DAY ONE (tuesday, june 17)
Welcome to Galveston

Registration
Stop by to check in, grab your badge, and pick up your gift bag. We’ll have a spot set up to make it easy for everyone.
5:30 pm – 630 PM
Tea with Karen
For the first 25 people who arrive, join Karen for a relaxed tea session. It’s a chance to wind down with some good conversation and a variety of teas.
7:00 PM – 9:00 PM
Let’s get things started with a casual welcome gathering. You’ll have the chance to meet others and settle into the retreat atmosphere.
9:00 PM – 11:00 PM
We’ll finish the evening with a cozy movie night. The film will tie into the retreat’s themes, giving us something to reflect on as we wind down for the night.
DAY TWO (WEDNESDAY, JUNE 18)
Empowerment Through Knowledge
7:00 AM – 8:00 AM
Start your day with a gentle yoga session to get your mind and body ready for the day ahead.
8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
Breakfast Buffet

Dr. Carr and Dr. Black will lead an insightful talk about Juneteenth and its place in African American history. It’s a great opportunity to learn and reflect.
3:00 PM – 4:00 PM
Jacquette Timmons will guide us through a conversation on financial freedom and what it means on a personal level.
4:00 PM – 5:00 PM

End the day with a peaceful yoga session, giving you space to reflect on the day’s experiences.
Day Three (Juneteenth – THURSDAY, JUNE 19)
Juneteenth Celebration

Join us for our daily delicious breakfast buffet, keeping you energized for all the exciting activities ahead!

Juneteenth Excursion led by Dr. Carr
Led by Dr. Greg Carr, we will visit the site where General Order No. 3 was read by Gordon Granger freeing the last remaining enslaved.
After a day of learning, we’ll relax with a fun game night hosted by J. Anthony Brown. Whether you’re into Spades, Bid Whist, or karaoke, it’s sure to be a good time.
DAY FOUR (FRIDAY, JUNE 20)
7:30 AM – 8:30 AM
We’ll start the day with one last yoga session to leave you feeling refreshed and ready for the day.
8:30 AM – 10:30 AM
We’ll gather one last time for breakfast to share what we’ve learned and experienced. It’s a chance to reflect and say goodbye.
11:30 AM
Before we part ways, we’ll gather for a group photo on the circular steps to remember the experience.
